šŸš€ A World First for Baneco

This week we hit a milestone: the very first viscose solution made from banana agri-waste.

Why does this matter?Ā

✨ Viscose is one of the world’s most widely used materials — found in everyday textiles (Rayon) and films (like Cellophane).Ā

🌳 Today, it’s almost entirely made from wood pulp, contributing to the loss of 4 billion trees every year.Ā

šŸŒ The industry urgently needs sustainable alternatives. That’s where we come in.

Our breakthrough shows that banana agri-waste can be turned into a real alternative feedstock for viscose. There’s still optimisation to do, but the proof of concept is here.

For Baneco, it’s another step in proving the climate-positive potential of banana waste — and we’re doing it with partners who share our ambition.

Turning banana agri-waste into sustainable materials is no longer just theory. It’s happening.
