š A World First for Baneco
This week we hit a milestone: the very first viscose solution made from banana agri-waste.
Why does this matter?Ā
⨠Viscose is one of the worldās most widely used materials ā found in everyday textiles (Rayon) and films (like Cellophane).Ā
š³ Today, itās almost entirely made from wood pulp, contributing to the loss of 4 billion trees every year.Ā
š The industry urgently needs sustainable alternatives. Thatās where we come in.
Our breakthrough shows that banana agri-waste can be turned into a real alternative feedstock for viscose. Thereās still optimisation to do, but the proof of concept is here.
For Baneco, itās another step in proving the climate-positive potential of banana waste ā and weāre doing it with partners who share our ambition.
Turning banana agri-waste into sustainable materials is no longer just theory. Itās happening.
